I know that the first college football games were more related to rugby and soccer. And the first intercollegiate game was held on November 6, 1869 and was between Rutgers and Princeton. How did the Princeton football team get to Rutgers? How did the other college football teams arrive at their games?
I would imagine by train - Rutgers and Princeton both being in NJ would have had train connections. Anyone on your schedule would be withing a 5-6 hour train (and then bus) journey from your school. My dad played football at Linfield in Oregon in the early 1930s and looking at his yearbook, a the folks they played (like Willamette in Salem, Oregon)were a couple of hours away by bus.

What is the best website for soccer news and updates?
I am interested in soccer, and I really want to know more of the sport and what is happening. I was wondering if there is a website that is free that has soccer news from Europe and others. I am not too interested in American soccer, but the big leagues in Europe. I also kind of want to watch soccer game highlights videos, and learn the score, upcoming matches. And even get more info on each team themselves. I would prefer it to be free, to sum it up I was wondering if there is a place that has all European soccer info in one website, while having soccer video highlights.

What kind of baseball bats do most international baseball leagues use?
I am curious to know what kind of baseball bats most international baseball leagues use. I know here in the United States that for the major league level, they use wooden bats and for the college level they can use aluminum. I'm trying to figure out what they use at the highest level possible for most international baseball leagues such as Japan, South America, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
the same as we do
What software are there to track which websites a wireless router user has visited?
I am looking for software that can track the websites and webpages a user has visited. For example, I am operating a wireless router that connects 5-7 users to the Internet. I am interested in what are these people are doing with my wireless service, as in are they abusing the wireless service that I am providing to them?
I am interested in how much time they are spending on the Internet, what websites they have visited or the webpages they are surfing and if they are downloading materials.
I know that such software are available on the open market but so far, I'm not sure where to find them. I am hoping for examples of such software that I can use.
Furthermore, I also wonder if the users on my wireless router can block such tracking software or If they can tack my attempts to follow them or if they will be aware if I am using such software to track them.
I undertsand that large networks and corporations routinely use such software. Are such software very expensive?
One solution is to setup a transparent proxy.
http://www.squid-cache.org/
This can be done as to not interfere with access but can provide all sorts of data including every web access or you can restrict certain sites if you really want to. There are several add-ons that have been done for squid to provide reporting from the logs that it can keep. A side benefit is that using caching you can maximize bandwidth and make browsing effectively quicker for sites that are visited frequently or by multiple users.
This is basically a free solution. Any, say, old pentium machine with decent network cards, a fair amount of memory, HD space and Linux loaded on it can handle this.
You could also use something like tcpdump (a packet capture utility) which can monitor *all* traffic going through the network. This too is a free program.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tcpdump
http://www.tcpdump.org/
The average user would have no idea if you were using any type of 'tracking' method. And all but the most knowledgable would be aware of certain methods (eg tcpdump can be quite difficult to determine if it is being used depending on how it is used). While it would be pretty easy for someone to realize that they are going through a proxy (eg. a random error with the proxy accessing a page) this can be excused as being in place for the speed benefit.
Many corporations probably use some commercial software, mainly because they have a budget and don't care so much about cost as they do prettiness and nifty charts and reports that a program can make for them with ease. There is plenty of open source software that can do just as much. For more possibilities do a search on freshmeat or sourceforge.
How can broadband internet connection is made to both the computers which are in networking?
I have two systems in networking by LAN, one system is Windows 98 and other is Windows XP. Now, I have connected Broadband internet connection with system of windows XP through USB. The system of Windows XP is connected with internet but I am not able to surf internet at system with Windows 98. Kindly instruct as to how the internet connection can be achieved at both the systems. I am layman in this field. Kindly let me have complete manual in this regard.
Its really easy.
First you have to share the broadband connection, to do that you have to go to the properties of My Networking Places, then go to the properties of the dial up which connects broadband, go to the Advance tab and click on share.
After sharing your LAN card address will autometically assign to 192.168.0.1, when ask for that click on yes.
Now go to the second PC.
Then properties of My networking places
then propoerties of Local area connection
double click on "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)"
asgine IP Address=192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask= 255.255.255.0
Gateway=192.168.0.1
DNS= 192.168.0.1
And you are done.
Is my laptop bag going to be considered a carryon item also along with the laptop?
Im a college student flying home Tuesday for Thanksgiving. Im going to have one carryon and my laptop bag with my laptop, mp3 player, and camera in it also. The laptop bag won't be counted as a separate carryon will it?
The laptop/bag will cound as one carry-on, but you're allowed to take two, so you'll be fine.
How can I attach two computers to one surround sound system, and have them use it at the same time?
I have an alienware gaming computer, and I am planing on getting another computer vary soon. The one I have right now is attached to a surround sound system, and it sounds awsome. The other computer I am getting is going to be a multi-media computer, and I would like to connect it to the same surround sound system.
I would like to listen to music, and play games at the same time.
How can I have both computers attached to the surround sound system, and have them both use it simaltaniously?
I would like to use the optical input on my system too. So how would I have both computers connected with optical cables at the same time?
I doubt its possible. I have set up about 4 surround sound systems. All of them require to switch to the input/component before the signal can output to the speakers. So computer 1 would get it while computer 2 wouldnt be picked up by the receiver.
what i recommend is that, if you have a sound blaster with the internal drive with the connectors, have the media pc spdif out into the alienware and have it played there, while outputting the alienware to the surround sound system.
Suppose a car can accelerate at 1m/s2. How large a break in traffic is needed to enter a highway where cars?
Suppose a car can accelerate at 1m/s2. How large a break in traffic is needed to enter a highway where cars are moving a 20m/s if the drive wants to avoid forcing the next car to slow down or to approach closer than 25m?
Assumptions:
1) The entering car is stopped
2) The entering car begins accelerating as soon as the rear bumper of the car it will fall in behind passes its front bumper.
What distance does it take a car to accelerate from 0 to 20 m/s at a rate of 1m/s²?
1) Final velocity = initial velocity + acceleration * time
2) Distance = initial velocity * time + 1/2 acceleration * time²
Plugging in the known values, the first equation becomes
20 m/s = 0 m/s + 1m/sec² * x
x = 20 sec
Now we can calcuate the second equation
D = 0 m/s * 20 sec + 1/2 * 1 m/s² * (20 sec)²
D = 0 m + 200 m
If we need to keep a 25 m space behind us, that gets added to the necessary distance.
When can an automobile with a velocity toward the north have an acceleration toward the south?
When can an automobile with a velocity toward the north have an acceleration toward the south?
I've been struggling with this concept and I would really appreciate any help.
I think the answer is when the car is traveling northward (that's a velocity toward the north) slows down. Slowing down is an acceleration, but it's a negative one. So if the car is traveling north the direction of the acceleration will be south.
Two things to remember: 1) acceleration is a change in velocity. 2) Velocity is not technically the same thing as speed. Velocity has two components, and speed is only one of those components. The other component is direction. So if you say "i'm going 20 mph", you're telling us your speed. If you say "i'm going west at 20 mph", now you're talking about your velocity. And if you say "I'm was moving north at 20 mph, but slowed to 15 mph" thats an acceleration, a negative one (deceleration) whose direction is south.
