Home > alamo car hire

Hi,
I am flying into Hamilton (Ontario), Canada at start of August for 5 weeks travelling. For transport, I want to hire a rental car for the practicality of being able to travel independantly. I am reluctant to pay the premium rates through a large national firm (ie: Avis, Alamo etc) so wonder for any advice on renting locally when I get over there. Is this a good idea?…any advice will be much appreciated!. (also I am 21 years old so this may have a bearing on a rental contract).

Here is a list of rental agencies in that area, the only thing you may want to do is verify the age limit, the ones in my area is 24 yrs. old for insurance purposes. Hope you enjoy your trip and good luck!

I am looking to do a road trip across the southern states of America from LA to Miami via Nevada, Texas, Louisiana e.t.c

Obviously I need to hire a car once there but rather than getting a carbon copy average Alamo saloon was hoping to get something like a 70’s or 80’s classic muscle car or something. Does anyone know of a national company who hires this kind of thing?

Thanks!

There are no national companies that do this as a commercial venture. There are some that rent classic cars for movies and such, but that would be wildly expensive, and possibly not available if you wanted to drive across the US. Your best option would be to buy a classic vehicle in Miami and sell it when you get to California.
