Such as is there a site that can tell my where they are located? Something that is carrier specific would be nice.

Cell sites are all over the place. The best place to start is by looking for the antennas. They are usually about 8 or so inches wide and about 5 or 6 feet tall and usually at least 60 feet in the air. The towers may be "stealth" towers that conceal the antennas inside and may look like a really big flag pole. The sites may be on top of buildings in which case it could be difficult to see the antennas. But as for a standard monopole, look for the antennas and most towers will have at least six antennas pointing in 3 different directions. Just because you find a cell tower doesn't mean it's your carrier's tower. It could belong to any of the carriers and now days, there is the big 4 and a bunch of smaller companies. Once you notice one, they will seem like they're everywhere.

This may have been possible with new GSM phones, but that technology would have been in its infancy at that time. Does anyone remember being able to make cell calls in an airplane in 2001? This would shed light on United 93.

GSM was well established in Europe at the time, but relatively rare in the US. However, even in 2001, many aircraft had phones mounted on the back of the seat. These use a variation of the cell phone technology, but the frequencies are different and the cell sites are much farther apart to reduce the "hand overs" between cell sites.

Theoretically, any cell phone (not just GSM) could make a call, but it is unlikely that the call would be sustained for more than a few seconds as it would be entering and then leaving a cell site's area constantly. A typical cell site handles phones around 1-5 miles away. At 30,000 feet, you are almost 6 miles straight up…

1. A cellular phone tower with a range of 25 units is located on a coordinate grid at (10, 35). Write an equation that describes its position and range

its a circle with center at (10,35) and radius 25
so equation is (x-10)^2 + (y-35)^2 = 25^2

Yahoo answer users give the best answers!! That’s why I like it here so much!

Any other descriptions would be a pleasant and much appreciated addition to any suggestions you have.

Thanks so much!

ok i work for a “phone” company and I can tell you that the best camera phones as far as megapixels are the sony 760 which is a slider phone comes in different colors, and the htc fuze with is a PDA phone. They both have a 3.2 mp camera. Those are the best phones as far as camera quality in the store. But the htc fuze does require a PDA plan which is unlimited internet(30) a month. The sony does not require an internet plan, so you weigh in your priorites and good luck choosing out your phone.

I have a Blackberry pearl with Cellular One and AT&T just bought Cell One out and I was wondering if I could Unlock the phone and use it with AT&T now? If so how can I go about doing that without paying for an unlock code from these sites online. I would think Cell One or AT&T would give me an unlock code since I want to slip an AT&T sim in it.

go to a store and they would do it for you as the phone would be used with at&t. you wouldn't have to pay to unlock it.
