TestMedica Diabetes Health Screen checks for glucose in the urine. Glucose is not normally found in the urine; however very small amounts may be found after the ingestion of large amounts of sweets. In most cases any glucose found in a random urine sample should be investigated. Glucose in the urine is a warning signal for diabetes. There is also a serious condition known as Low Renal Threshold in which the kidneys allow glucose to be excreted. Any amount of glucose detected in the urine should be…

I have three children and my husband and I are contemplating a fourth. I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes with my second and third child. We are contemplating having a fourth, but I am wondering what my chances of the diabetes not going away. Any ideas?
The chances are higher if you had it during your 2nd and 3rd pregnancys. I have never had it and now with my 3rd pregnancy I am borderline. I would start watching what you eat very early so it will reduce your chances of having to take shots or anything.

I know there is a procedure available for type 1 diabetes that works for 2-3 years (animal transplant that eventually gets rejected by the human immune system) but does it work with type 2 diabetes?
I'm sorry to say the answer is no…..
Unlike type 1 diabetics who produce little or no insulin, type 2 diabetics who make up 90-95% of the diabetic population for the most part produce an adequate supply of insulin, many times with the help of oral medications to help stimulate the pancreas into producing and releasing more insulin. Type 2's can also use a longer acting insulin to help in controlling their blood sugars.
The main issue with Type 2's is that they are to some degree insulin resistant, which means that the insulin their body produces is not making it's way into the cells of the body to release the excess glucose, thus a buildup of glucose occurs and remains in the blood causing blood sugars to elevate to higher than normal levels which over time causes damage to body systems and organs. Which is why many type 2's need to take oral medications to help the cells to become less insulin resistant.
Since it deals with the cells of the body, surgery would not be an option.

I have cardiovascular disease and I was reading up on it in my book. I encountered that many things are similar to diabetes, do they link and can I get diabetes? Also my doctor told me that my diet should consist of a moderate amount of dark chocoate, can I eat white/ milk chocolate too?
dark chocolate is the only chocolate you should eat for your health. try and get 70% or higher cocoa. milk chocolate is better than white chocolate… white chocolate isn't even real chocolate. milk chocolate isn't good for you b/c it is too high in saturated fat and doesn't contain enough antioxidants to be considered good for you.
yes, diabetes is linked to cardiovascular disease. if you eat crap, and don't exercise, you will probably become diabetic at some point in your life

I have just found out that I have gestational diabetes and I am over 37 weeks pregnant. It has gone undiagnosed and we have found out that I why my baby is so large. She is already 8 pounds 12 ounces based on the ultra sound. They won't let us induce until at least 39 weeks. I have been eating healthy but not healthy for someone with gestational diabetes. My concerns are now with my baby and I want her to be healthy. Any personal expieriences would be great!
I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy. The only real difficulty was a very long labor due to a large baby. A large baby is probably all you will have to deal with. If the baby is too large you may end up with a C-section so prepare for that. Don't worry, you will probably both be fine.
